Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Bogotá

Upon your arrival to Bogotá, our staff will collect you at the airport and help you get settled in. We’ll give you the day to rest up from your flight before starting our adventure tomorrow!

Day 2: Bogotá
Breakfast included | meet produce farmers | La Candelaria

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll hit the town and begin our full day in Bogotá. Starting at the Paloquemao Market, we’ll…

…meet with some Colombian produce farmers to learn about their trade: how the produce is grown, how they grow it, and how they manage to sell their products. After that, Monserrate Hill is next on our list. Riding the cable car up to the top will give you a sneak preview of the expansive views of the capital that await you at the top. Then we’ll whisk you off to La Candelaria and Bogotá’s historical downtown, where we’ll visit the Botero Museum, the Gold Museum, and the Chico Museum. After having spent the day learning about Colombian culture and history, , we’ll give you the night off to rest up for another full day tomorrow. Or, if you’ve got enough energy, feel free to explore! We’d be happy to make recommendations.

Day 3: Bogotá to Zipaquirá & Villa de Leyva
Breakfast & lunch included | Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá | Villa de Leyva walking night tour

At 9AM on day 3, we’ll depart for the village of Zipaquirá, about 1 hour from Bogotá. Here, we’ll see the famous Colombian engineering feat in…

…the salt mine of Zipaquirá, the salt cathedral. This architectural masterpiece will capture our attention for about 2 hours before we head into town to have lunch and wander around to admire the village. You can read more about this tour by looking at the Zipaquirá Tour page. Then, we’ll get back on the road toward Villa de Leyva, where we’ll be staying for the evening. We’ll take a lovely walking night tour through this colonial village, soaking in the fresh night air and sights of the cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings..

Day 4: Villa de Leyva to Bogotá
Breakfast included | El Infiernito | Pozos Azules

We’re up again bright and early to begin a full-day tour at 8AM. This complete tour takes us to El Infiernito (“the little hell”), an archaeoastronomical site…

…full of earthworks. This mystical locale was once used for religious ceremonies and also served as a rudimentary astronomical observatory. We’ll also see Pozos Azules (“blue wells”), which are aptly named — the turquoise water is certainly a hue unlike any other you’ve seen before. After visiting these fascinating historical sites, we’ll either take you to a paleontological center to learn more about the area’s scientific history or to the colonial settlement of Sáchica, depending on your preferences. After refueling with a lovely lunch (not included) in Villa de Leyva, we’ll make our way back to Bogotá for the night before heading to Medellín on day 5.

Day 5: Bogotá to Medellín & flower farms
Breakfast & lunch included | Medellín flower farms | cable car

A short flight (not included) will deliver us to Medellín in the morning. Upon arrival, we’ll skip the city for the time being, and head directly to…

…the town of Santa Elena. This small town isn’t home to just any kind of farmers; the agriculture here is focused on radiant blossoms. Day 5 brings us to the flower farms of Colombia, where we’ll get to talk to flower farmers and learn how they design and construct their famous silletas, or special flower arrangements. To make the most of our our time out in nature, we’ll stroll through Arvi Park before we head back to Medellín via cable car. Given that we had an early start, we’ll give you the night off to rest or explore Medellín at your own pace.

Day 6: Medellín
Breakfast included | Antioquia Museum | Comuna 13

On day 6, Medellín is ours for the taking. This full-day tour is just about as full as they come: the Antioquia Museum, Botero Plaza, a downtown walking tour…

…the Memory Museum, and Comuna 13 (you can find out more about this by checking out our Medellín City Tour page) are all on our to-do list. Medellín is a hub for creativity and innovation, and throughout this action-packed day in the city, it really does shine.

Day 7: Medellín to Antioquian hacienda
Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included | tour of flower plantations

Our last full day on this expedition starts early as we head toward the eastern side of Medellín. Just outside of the city limits is an array of Antioquian…

…haciendas, which are flower plantations. Our time in this tranquil spot starts with a horseback ride around the property, after which we’ll enjoy a lovely breakfast provided by the farmers. We’ll then take an official tour of the property to learn more about the processes behind farming flowers. A sampling of local fruits will make our afternoon start on a sweet note. After lunch, you’ll have time to explore the grounds and relax in this peaceful setting before we head to dinner to enjoy one last exquisite Colombian meal.

Day 8: Hacienda to the Medellín airport
Breakfast included

Day 8 marks our time together coming to an end. After a breakfast at the hotel, we’ll take you to the Medellín international airport so that you can get off to your next adventure.
